Welcome to First Grade at Haskell STEAM Magnet Elementary!
First grade teachers are a community of educators that collaborate together as a cohesive team on
a regular basis, to provide meaningful common core standard based instruction.
The first grade curriculum is built on establishing foundational skills in areas such as reading, writing,
science, social studies and math, with an integration of STEAM. Not only is there a focus on academic
foundations, but there is also a large emphasis on the social emotional (SEL) skills needed to be a
productive community member. There are clear behavior expectations that educators and families
have worked together to establish in order to create a positive and productive learning environment
for all students.
