Welcome to Room 19 - 5th Grade!
Welcome to Haskell STEAM Magnet Elementary! Once you walk though our gates, you have become part a life-long community of learners. Once a Haskell Rascal, ALWAYS a Haskell Rascal!
I'm Mrs. Flowers, and I teach 5th grade. I have been at Haskell for 29 years!! That is how I know that this is such an amazing place to learn and grow! I am part of an amazing team of dedicated educators, and we love to make students' last year in elementary school amazing!
Fifth grade is a challenging year, and it is my goal to help guide students through each challenge. I have high expectations for all the scholars in my class, but I balance those expectations with a strong
Social-Emotional Learning foundation. Not only is our time spent learning, practicing, and mastering the 5th grade standards, we work on time management and organizational skills, social awareness, and strategies to help us manage stress and anxiety. All of these learning opportunities will prepare the kids for middle school, so they have a smooth transition to 6th grade!

Collaboration and Cooperation gets the job done!
When students work together to complete a challenge, be it a sorting activity during SEL, identifying character traits in a novel study, or trying to balance the three branches if government - literally! - during a STEM challenge, they not only reinforce the lessons that are taught, they are practicing valuable 21st Century skills!
